Nothing to Blog About!

Well, I have had many things happen over the last little while. Like, once again - our awesome softball team made the playoffs! I struggled terribly in our last games and pretty much single-handedly threw the games! That's not very fun to write about.

I had a mishap with a speeding ticket, but thankfully I'm still driving and am not going to think about that any longer ---not fun to write about either!

I spend most of my free time at the gym - not that exciting, but I feel fabulous!

Oh- one bit of excitement! My sister is just about to have her baby...forced to have it tomorrow if it comes to that (and it appears it will come to exactly that). I'm so excited to have a little girl in the family! 1. They are so cute! and 2. hopefully this means my sister will let me steal my nephew for a weekend now and again! That would be fabulous!

Probably the only thing that I am SUPER excited about is Basketball Season! Every year- same thing! Stake ball comes and the competition gets fierce! It should be another excellent season. Hopefully C2A will rock it out this year and take the championship! We shall see! I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures about that.

Anyhow- that's all for now. I'll try to put up some fun pictures of the latest friend adventures asap!

Don't Change The Schedule!!

Okay, one thing that bothers me more than anything else right now....Schedule changes! Seriously people, my DVR is about to burst most nights as is. Now you go and change the nights on me? That's incredibly unfair. Its your fault that I'm being forced to give up at least 2 shows now. I guess 2 of 12 isn't too bad, right?

Fall television is in full swing. I have my:

Favorites:
- Heroes
- Pushing Daisies
- Grey's
- Bones
- One Tree Hill
- Private Practice
- Smallville
- Fringe

Feel guilty for watching so much trash:
- Gossip Girl
- 90210
- Prison Break
- Desperate Housewives

The newcomers to my playlist:
-The Unit
- NCIS

and honorable mentions go to all the others I just don't have enough time to watch, but will sneak in if possible.

This season is packed full of fantastic treats. I can't even begin down to list all of the positives about each show. That would just take too much time. However, in one word answers:

1. Best Plot - Heroes
- The world is going to destroy itself. Too many people with powers. Good turns bad. Bad turns good. Its all there. Blood, tricks, drama, romance, suspense! Love it!
2. Best Cast - Pushing Daisies
- Ahhhhh! The pie-maker needs to get over Chuck. Although I love that storyline- I love Olive even more. If not the pie-maker, someone else needs to come along for Olive. That girl needs some 'Touching.' I'm not so secretly praying that she gets more singing scenes as well. The underdeveloped Sound of Music throw back just barely dripped water in my dry mouth! Bring it Cheno!!!
3. Best Sets - Pushing Daisies
- Have you seen those things? Insanity!
4. Best Action Hero - Smallville
- Tom Welling as Superman. I cannot wait until the tights come about.
5. Hottest Guy- Smallville or Private Practice (although when Grey's has special dead-guy visits from Denny- they get #1)
- Tom Welling vs Taye Diggs - Okay, so on that comparison - its Tom. However, Taye has a special special place as well.

6. Hottest Girl - One Tree Hill - B. Davis is hot w/ bruises!
- Always looks good, always sassy, always Hot. Okay- so maybe Eva should be in the competition as well....

7. Dirtiest - Gossip Girl
- Kinda gross actually.

8. Show on which I want to see/hear people singing - Pushing Daisies (I know Private Practice has good ones too...but whatever -Cheno takes them all). See Above!

9. Slightly dull - Grey's ---- I pray you return to honor and glory in my #1 spot soon!
- I love MerDer, but seriously? Seriously- lets just have you get it on and be freakin' happy for once. I'm done with that part of the drama. and PUH-LEASE bring McKidd back! Yang needs to loosen up too!

10. A touch disappointing but still watching in hope that it gets even better - Fringe
- I'm not giving up on Pacey yet. Its growing on me!

11. Best Make-up - Private Practice.
- They ALL look good this year! California Glow I guess! Congrats to the make-up artists for their work...it can't be THAT easy.

Thoughts? Any other awesome show recommendations? Obviously I can squeeze them in somewhere......

Driving Arizona (Hello Jose!) - More food than a girl can ever handle!

Not long ago - shockingly with my lack of blogging time as of late- I went to Arizona! I did not take on this adventure alone! No, I went with the Mahster Trip Planner. The trip was awesome. Rushed, a TON of driving, lots of drinking, and way too much bad food! My kind of trip! Wait, I meant drinking water - don't go reading into things. Sheesh!

Anyhow, our adventure started with our flight- it was soooo early. Thanks to the fact that I've taken Ani to the airport a dozen times or so, she was able to pick us up at 5am and we were at DCA in plenty of time to see the sunrise....Ouch!

Dani discovered 'mountains' - I still call eastern hills Mountains, but these were definitely bigger and well....Uglier! Eastern mountains are so Green and alive. Western mountains look all dry and pointy! Now, just cuz I say Uglier, doesn't mean I don't love them just as much if not more than those I'm so used to seeing. Actually, Brown is my new favorite color! When you grow up in green country, it becomes boring. To tell the truth, for years I've noticed weeds and underbrush and just thought- these woods have become too green! Fall is my favorite season for a reason! Everything changes colors and then DIES! Maybe I should live in the desert.

Okay, enough about that. Anyhow- we took a few fun pictures from the air, and even came up with a fun game of 'keep the jet in the center' - its much harder than it sounds!

Anyhow, we took off in our fabulous gas-guzzling Jeep Liberty (which was pretty comfortable) - and headed to the Grand Canyon. We made a lot of stops along the way. Chick-Fil-A for lunch, Montezuma's castle, Sonic for drinks, and Sedona for the red rocks! We drove the route that took us through Sedona, that was a little strange, but awesome country side. I think we stopped at 3 lookout points...Loads of fun and pics!

We drove, and drove, and drove, and suddenly we were in more flat territory and were wondering when we would see the canyon. Its kinda crazy, you're driving along and then BAM! There's a HUGE Canyon on your right.... Seriously!!! Who saw that coming!? I didn't! I mean, I was anticipating something, but I do believe my heart skipped a beat or three when it just opened up into view! Wow!

We checked in and headed out for sunset! The walk was a little farther than we expected, but we saw many critters on the path...Deer in Az are HUGE compared to my little white tailed button bucks in PA. Still super cute though...their little, and by little I mean HUGE, ears! Too Adorable!

We scoped out our spot for sunrise, a cool little ledge that not too many people go out on apparently-I guess it wasn't as much of an adventure as we though...it was still fun though and made for great pics. Then we went to get food....I don't think we were hungry or anything- we only spend $48 for food which we thought we would use on a short morning hiking experience. That's right - $48. Okay- so in the long run, that food ended up getting us through all of our long drives, midnight munchies, and we had loads of fluids which were more than a must, but we may have taken the pamphlet just a tad too seriously when it read 'eat plenty of Salty foods and drink lots of water.'

That night I slept through the premiere of Grey's Anatomy and 5am came way too early, BUT we managed to get up and get the early bus to our sunrise spot! A large slow-moving cloud damaged our view for the initial moments of sunrise glory, but it finally moved and we were able to see some great colors and take some fun shots! We moved around some after that, and jogged maybe 30 steps up a slight hill...I about died! My lungs felt as if they were not getting any Oxygen at all... SAD!

We met our friend Rory at our next stop, and decided to spend our morning adventures with him rather than the unexciting trail hike we had originally set out to take on that morning. Rory was a cool guy- UK born but living in Kentucky, Rory told us of his many adventures and then treated us to breakfast! Can't beat that! [Again- you find us eating]

After checkout- we headed back to Phoenix...yes, another long drive! Remember though, we had loads of food and drink for the trip. Good times! Phoenix was surprisingly small to me, but not too bad. A stop at ASU (for some shorts), a visit with Dave, and a quick moment to relax - and we were off to see Blackbeard! A rather popular show amongst the LDS in Phx. It was quite good... 'If you wanna be a pirate!'

We tried to stay up talking with our friend, but I was unsuccessful. I finally gave in and literally did not wake until morning. Not even a little. I didn't even put on blankets I was so tired! Next day, I needed a workout. I was craving sports, but there were none to be played. Our guy pals didn't even have a football to toss around! So we walked....and walked...and jogged a little. That felt fabulous. Dave took us to TC Eggington - that little place rocked the house! I got the 'Piglet Special' Omlet. I did take away 2/3 of the Piglet within, but it was still not good for me! I'm sure.

Next it was off to Tucson (Tuck-sun). Long, Flat, Boring drive! It was good though. First time having In-N-Out Burger...not my favorite but tasty nonetheless. Our hotel was awesome (esp. for $50). The pool was small, but wet! And Matt caught up with us for some late afternoon poolside chatter! I miss that Guy! Then it was a quick get ready to go, a stop at a terrible bbq joint (food, yet again), and then a UofA Women's Volleyball game. It was a lot of fun, although the game went on forever and UofA tanked when it counted most.

Ice Cream, and then Bed - Finally!

Up with the sun, I went for a jog. I needed to work of at least a little of the mounds of food I'd been eating. It felt so good to jog without humidity! If I had been in shape- I could have run forever.

We went to church with 1 mission. To meet Jose! I'm not usually one for LOVING the visit to foreign wards, but we new we just had to hear the accent so humorously impersonated by Matt. Mission accomplished within moment of sitting in the chapel. Piano playing Jose (See yo-yo's videos for impersonation) gave us plenty of entertainment to get through the painful ward conference sacrament meeting! Tucksun's people were not very friendly. Do you think they knew we were mocking one of their own?

Post church -more food, a visit to the UofA bookstore (bought xl pants so I had something comfortable to wear), and we were back on our way to Phoenix for our flight home.

It has been settled in my head that I am not ready to move to Arizona. Not yet. I love the fact that you can get lost in DC. I love the fact that people are ACTIVE. I love that I can play sports every night w/ friends. I would miss that too much. However, I do really like Arizona, and could see me living there if I had a family!

Peace out- and happy border patrolling.

Batman- I have a warm fuzzy feeling for you!

I have this random/lame tendency to fall asleep during movies. I chalk it up to the fact that I rarely sit still, so put me in a dark room and in a seat where I can't really spread out--- doesn't that mean bedtime? I've made many-a-friend upset with this habit. Its strongest on Friday nights...come on now, who isn't tired after a long week? Truth is, I can't really help it. If I'm not completely into the movie or obsessed with its release, then there is a chance I could relax a little too much!

Regardless of this ability of mine, there are a few movies that warrant a LATE LATE viewing. Harry Potter being the #1. I've waited in huge lines prior to the 1st showing, just to see it. I'm not ashamed at all.

This weekend-Batman was another Midnight viewing that couldn't be missed. Although, it was the Friday at midnight, not Thursday Midnight showing. We figured it would be sold out for all other shows, and at the earlier viewings lame watchers would bring their poor children to scream, cry, and interrupt throughout. Anyhow- FANTASTIC! I wouldn't have understood quite so much without the help of my coworker Erika who explained the difference from the past 'comic book' movies to this 'graphic novel' rendition. The relationship between the Joker and Batman is best summed up in one of the classic funny lines delivered by the Joker himself. 'I can't kill you- you complete me!' - Classic!

In the spirit of all things Batman, the history channel had an awesome show about Batman and his Villain friends. Apparently they are the most psychotic of all evil characters in comics. They actually have certifiable mental diseases. Awesome! Before you see anything else...go see this flick! Its ridiculous! Mind you- the Joker is FREAKY! not like the usual. Its truly crazy!

Crushed our way to the Semi's

Who would have guessed? Remember how I thought we wouldn't even make the playoffs? WE DID!!! Shocking! Not that we were a bad team, by any means. We were quite solid, but we were in the toughest division possible. Coming in 4th place doesn't often make you feel as if you are star quality.

Anyhow- we made it to the playoffs. We won the first game on Thursday, solidifying our chances of playing on Monday- which came and we won 2 games that night- pushing us to Weds night. We won the first game of Weds night to play in the Semi's. Sadly, in the semi's our magic ran out and we just didn't have quite enough to keep up with Happy Hour as they were well on their way towards their own championship!

Overall- 5 wins in a playoff do-or-die run is pretty special. The other teams did not have to play as many to get as far!

A few special notes from the run:
1. We beat Triple Threat, who beat the NERDS in one of the craziest games ever earlier in the season. I was subbing and was about to be the first female ever kicked out of a slow pitch league. 3 dudes were tossed from our team, as well as 2nd base was tossed. Ump was drunk, as was Triple Threat. So, kicking their trash, quite handily at that, was wonderful. The NERDS thanked us for handing them their seats!

2. 3 of the final 4 teams were from out Tuesday -Red division! Woohoo---no wonder we were 4th!

3. Our guys rock!
4. The girls are all way better than we give ourselves credit!

5. Crush is my favorite softball team ever! Clique was pretty cool...but we lost a lot and it was way more stressful to get people to show up for sure!!

Once again- timing sucks!

I'm late again- no time to write, no super creative thoughts to ramble on about, and no super adventures...I'm sure in no time- this will come back to me.

Regardless, there is always SYTYCD during lazy days of summer. Although, I wouldn't call my days Lazy, by any means.

So- jessica/out Comfort/still hangin' on AND at this point -Kherington/Out. Why did she get so teenage *itch last week? Her 2-step sucked and the other dance wasn't hot either. Imagine if she'd been in Jessica's shoes for weeks now--she'd be in tears and maybe suicidal by now. You've been the golden child...just don't get on Mia's bad side...she'll get you!

Mark SNUCK by this week...he should have gone, Gev should have stayed. I liked both of their 'Final' solos better than the 'dance for your life' solos. Regardless...the two best PARTNERS were in the bottom. I don't care how cut Will, Twitch, and Joshua are...they aren't great partners....Okay, Joshua is! I'm just venting!

I'm out for now!

xoxo

SYTYCD 4 Top 12 - Katee and Joshua - Bollywood

Yes, so SYTYCD has completely taken over my blog. I have nothing else to write about at the moment. Other than-- GO CRUSH! We play our playoff game tonight- and hopefully can kill it enough to keep moving forward. Back to point- SYTYCD rules and its more fun to keep watching over and over again. If you aren't into it- you should be, for sure! I'll be writing my summary momentarily, but while I do that--please enjoy the best dance of the night (mind you- others were great, but i don't think any can match the effort of Katee and Joshua).

WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS!!!

You (along with our entire team) may be asking 'HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?'

We finished 4-6, but that's apparently enough to make the playoffs. I'm alright with that. I'm excited for our team- and even our lineup. We have quite a few subs playing for us this coming Thursday, but it should be a great time!

Game time is 6:30 - come watch and cheer! Eisenhower Avenue Field #1!!

SYTYCD 4 Top 14 - Katee and Joshua - Contemporary

I need to go back to last week. Although I loved this during the first viewing last week, I realized that I did not have the time to grasp the FULL feeling while being tackled by my 3 yr old nephew. Last night I sat down to rewatch the dances and I was just blown away! Blown Away! This reminded me a little of Ivison- but so much more powerful. Amazing! Though Mia makes for a cranky judge, I just cannot help but be in AWE of her ability to pull the best out of everyone and just make me almost cry by the end of a dance. Watch and be absorbed!!!

Every Building in DC is Hogwarts!

My family was in town and it was my nephew's first trip to DC. YAY!

The first thing we did was not so DC-ish, but very Dani- we went to MY last softball game of the season. Adrian introduced himself as Harry Potter and throughout the night cast spells at my teammates as well as the other team. They worked for a while as we seemed to be a bit charmed in our play the first few innings. In the end we lost, but we played extremely well against the 2nd place team. I thankfully didn't choke too much while on the field. Had a few catches in the outfield, and managed to knock down a couple at 3rd. Good times!
The rest of the family weekend was mostly a mixture of Eatin' and Chillin' at the house. The weather was not great for doing lots of outside activities other than
maybe swimming.
While my nephew decided terrorizing my house was his favorite activity- we also watched movies (all things Harry Potter), as well as tv shows ,and ate lots and lots of goodies. I did manage to finally convince my sister that I would not allow Adrian to drown in the pool, and she gave me permission to take him up 'All by Myself' (note the big kid voice). HE/WE Loved It! For a kid who has never been big pool swimming before, he picked things up rather quickly. By the end of the 2nd day- he was going underwater all by himself and loving every second of it.

There were a few incidents of swallowing water though... was it wrong of me to laugh when this happened?
We also went to watch the fireworks- I thought Adi was going to fall over with excitement. My Mom was panicking just a touch while we were parked along 395 to watch but it worked well and we missed most of the traffic coming from the city!
On our final day, we went downtown to see some sites- via drive-by! As we crossed into the city, I heard 'THERE'S HOGWART'S!!' anytime we crossed a big building. Especially the Smithsonian Museum and The Capitol Bldg. I do believe that even the Wash. monument was deemed to be Hogwart's as well.
I hope they come visit again soon!!

Running Late

After a long weekend with the family (Sister, Mother, and Nephew), I'm trying to regain some energy and get back on track.

One thing I did do, while the family visited, was manage to get them all addicted to the show! YAY! 2 more on the train! We watched both nights (thank goodness for dvr) and then after they decided how much they enjoyed that- we watched previous weeks as well. FUN!!!

Anyhow- this week I will miss recapping because....basically... you already have it all anyhow. Best dancers- Mark/Chelsea, Worst dancers - Thayne and Comfort

What i hate- The judges once again kept Thayne--DUDE SUCKS! And though Comfort's solo rocked, She just doesn't do great at anything else. Get over her already! Matt would have done better with a different partner....

Regardless, I'm okay with the results even if I would have preferred someone else going. I'm just glad Jessica is hanging in there. I'm voting like mad to help her! I just want her to get a new partner to see if she can step up when she's not continually beaten down by the "LOOOVVEE" for Will. - Even if he is the man!

Peace out -top 12 next week...we will see who makes the top ten and TOUR team!

Yay!

Top 16- freakin' amazing!

While I was watching (late) last night- I realized I had about 12 minutes to get in as many votes as possible. Top 16 dancers - hot stuff! Okay, so not all of them - just a few of my favorites. Here's my rundown in the quickest version possible! As always - if you want to see the clips- visit Tapeworthy (see link to the right) where they are all available.

Best Couple - Mark and Chelsie H. -Hip-Hop - This is to me the equivalent of Season 2's Umbrella Hip-Hop with Ivison. I love how these two pull off so many different styles and are just the perfect couple together. Chelsie is the best at being a character among the females and Mark is just such a great performer! He is alive on that stage! I think his oddness just makes him ideal to match Chelsie's school girl perfectness!

2nd Favorite - Joshua and Katee - I've officially crossed over. I like Katee. I honestly feel badly for ever disliking her. SYTYCD screwed her personality in the beginning and she has been fantastic in every style so far! I love how she is pushing herself to be so good at everything. Joshua is just amazing! His cheeks for sure filled out the pants! I'm amazed by his all around abilities. ---They may never have to dance their solos ---
Least Favorite - Chelsea and Thayne -- sorry, I think they try hard. They are great contemporary dancers, but the quick-step is never good for anyone!Except Lacey and Kameron! Sadly- this is 3 weeks in a row that I'm not in love....please send someone home!

Also on the dog pile- Comfort and Chris. I thought Chris tried hard. Really hard. He's just so ....thick! I just don't think he's straight enough to be raw and not gay enough to just go for it! Comfort is pretty fantastic. Her solo will save her.

Who is going home: Chris/Thayne and Chelsea/Comfort

Other notes:
I still love Jessica. There's just something about her - and that seemed to have been noticed by Adam Shankman. I think she's fabulous but has lost all of her confidence by being trounced by everyone's love for her partner. Didn't anyone else notice that HE DROPPED HER ON HER SIDE in that drop spin? I do believe he is the #1 male dancer. He's just that crazy good. He looks good in every style and honestly- you can't say enough good about that guy. And - He's a gentleman! BUT what he doesn't do well is showcase his partner. I think its choreography partly- but I feel like he could really help Jessica along. It was much better tonight though. And her whole goofing off thing is only because she's nervous. You can tell. Who doesn't try to giggle when they think they are sucking it up! Twitchington was hot again. If they aren't safe...my name isn't spelled with an i instead of a y. I love how great their personalities are together. Just too fun! I love that Kherington is now wearing frames! Matt and Kourtni - I really liked their dance. It was different, but a ton of fun!!! I loved it. Matt is just too cute to me! I love his almost cartoon like features! Kourtni is growing on me. I feel like they are a great team! The new choreographer was way too out there w/ the hair---but I think she's going to be awesome for the show. I'd like to get to know her a little more before passing judgment. Courtney and Gev - They look great together. I think they try to make Gev too much like Dominic but Gev is way way way cuter than Dom. He's a sweet guy and very very likeable. I adore Courtney! I think she's fantastic and can't wait for them to make the top 10 and then hopefully she'll stand out even more with slightly stronger men. I think Gev is doing awesome for what he is doing though, and I would kind of like to see him partner with Kherington! I think they would be cute and she could bring out his goofy side. They get an A for that performance! It just looked so hot! I will continue to pray for Jessica that they don't get in the bottom...I still miss Rayven!
Final Note- Nigel was the worst looking of the judges...thank you Mary for making yourself somewhat better looking. I like the bedazzled look better than the stone ages.

SYTYCD - RIP OFF WEEK!

Thoughts on performances/show - WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH MARY. I believe general consensus states that she looked like something straight out of the flintstones this week. Mia, you're a super BEEEYOTTCH! Even if you look more feminine this year- you're still the same whench you have always been. Don't sparkle those blue eyes---they should be red! Did Ms. Deeley not accept your love? I hate when you are a judge...please, please, PUH-LEASE stick to Choreograpy! Nigel (NAH_GEL according to Comfort) - get over yourself and please never ever ever, ever ever, ever ever - grab yourself on national tv again. I'm sure if Chris had been TOLD to do that- he would have. It was not a part of the choreography! Even if he was off- you should for sure not be trying to do it yourself. Dude, you're old (insert shiver of disgust and terror here)!

I have not been a Susie fan at all along this season, but I still feel she was totally ripped off in this weeks eliminations. Her solo by far trumped Chelsea T. I mean, I wasn't voting for or against Susie, and I'm not SAD to say goodbye, but i still felt she brought way more to the solo than the other girls. Comfort was pretty great though -- Bye bye Susie.

Poor Marquis, our special little friend Marquis. I liked your tricks and thought it was great! Again- maybe ripped off since 'The Tree' did NOTHING for me with his solo. and Thayne---can you be any more yourself...at least the bows and ruffles made you interesting during performance.

Faves were - Twitchington, Katee and Joshua, Jessica (still love her even if nobody else does) and Will, Mark and Chelsie

And now we are down to 16. Sorry this weeks update is so short - not a lot of time.

Little Sisters-

Back in high school, I had a youth group leader who stood out above and beyond all other people in the world. Totally the coolest lady on earth - sporty, playful, funny, spiritual, totally an emotional basket case, and just plain awesome! She managed to be the first adult I ever opened up to (long history here), and quite possibly the most influential person in my life.

Over the years this friend has been in and out of life (never far from heart though) and will always be that person that I'm just completely drawn to. Basically, if she said drop everything and come hang out- I'd do it... unless it was a boy that I REALLY REALLY like. She manages to get me to do the most random jobs for her - crawling on her roof, breaking into the house, installing windows, and multiple times I've hauled wood. Its always a great interaction and we most times enjoy being tough as nails and more clever than the guys trying to attempt the same jobs.

Anyhow- this friend has a few kids and they've always referred to me as their Sister Dani. This confuses many, because Suz also refers to me as her sister. Funny enough, we've managed to make this random in between sisterhood work for us and most seem to get it after about 5 minutes in the same room. I've lived with them for about a month when I moved to DC, and though I loved it- I felt a little guilty when Farrel (her husband) and I would walk into the house after work and the reaction would be a little lopsided. More often than not- it was 'Hi Dad - DAANNNIII!!!' - Too funny, but i'm sure my moving out helped the ego repair once the kids were happy to see him again!

This last weekend was another adventure in hauling wood (just the girls this time since the boys were busy racing their bikes). Good times were had, but boy was I tired. I took the kids to see Kung Fu Panda, but while we were waiting- we snapped a couple pics on my phone...

I sure love that family! This coming weekend is sleepover time, and I'm sure there will be more pics from that!

'Crush' it! /Blue Crush/ SOFTBALL!

Everyone knows I'm a sports nut. How many evenings a week do I squeeze in as many athletic ativities as possible? A typical night involves any combination of gym, tennis, softball, or basketball. Crazy? Maybe a little, but I feel best when I'm moving and what a better way to be social than while exercising. You'd think I'd be super skinny by now, but I'm pretty sure my eating habits prohibit such a physique. Good thing I'm active....just imagine...okay don't... That's scary!

Anyhow, From Spring through Fall- Its Softball season. This season, two teams have split/joined forces/mixed it up/ and added a little extra flavor and came up with CRUSH! An awesome team of fun people. Here's a shot of A-Bo during his first night of Pitching. Usually Ace is the pitcher, but it looks like we have a few guys who will bring the heat (hehe- the lob is more like it). Sure- 10th batter walked 3 times in one inning to score the only 3 runs they had that inning (co-ed slow pitch rules- little confusing)- but still. He struck him out the next inning, so that was pretty fantastic. So much so - he did a nice little jig off of the field! Like a child at Christmas!

The season started out spectacularly- 2-0. Then we took 3 hits to the chin before evening up the tally. Currently, we stand 4-4, with 2 tough games left in the season. We do play in the toughest division, so I'm hoping that a mediocre record will be enough to get us through to the tournament. If not, we will take 2 months to lick our wounds and get ready for Fall season.

While I'm waiting for a set of pictures, Guh-neit has provided a few shots for our entertainment.
Check me out! I'm in the outfield, playing the rover position and standing near centerfield. Dude pops it up to the right field line and I run ALLLL the way over and catch it! Look at that- Two hands!! Whitney should be Proud! I most often hear her saying that the boys miss it when they are smug and don't use two hands to catch in the outfield....I didn't even know I did it! Funny enough, I was running so hard to get there (and luckily timed it well) that I couldn't stop running once I caught it. I continued running and ended up running it all the way to Boone at pitch. It was rather entertaining. I love that Guh-neit caught the shot at the perfect moment!!! Props to the photographer! Thanks!
It must have been a Lefty up to bat- Look how serious Yo-Yo is right now! She did a wicked good job at 1st that game. I typically prefer 1st for myself, but you have to mix it up sometimes. Outfield is good too...
2 games left!!! Go Crush! Check in later for more pics!

SYTYCD - Returns!

My summer pleasure is back- SYTYCD - the search for America's favorite dancer!! I absolutely love this show. Each week, choreographers team up with dance partners and pull together a show that brings some of every style to the screen.

Season 2 - the year of Ivison, had me hooked by a great group of performers. Season 3 was just as addicting, though I may have felt a little less connected to the contestants. Season 4 looks to hold me on the line with both the performances and the contestants. Last night the top 20 performed. USUALLY, there is a stand out front runner as well as a stand out bottom two! As of last night- I don't have a bottom two! I do have a few front runners for favorites- but honestly, they were all fantastic! I was stunned. I had actually hoped that a few would fall flat on their faces. I even thought the pairings were much more fair this year as well. There are no completely awful couples.

So here they are- my favorites:

Top girls-

Rayven -

Just fantastic! Love her personality. The ballerina brought the hip-hop! Can't wait for more!

Jessica -

I think she's the fun one this year, and will be fantastic when she leaves her hair down....the tango-not a cute look for her (two words: spray tan -Please!)

Kherington -

This girl is CUTE! I love that she is partnered with Twitch! The two happiest people on the show, together *sigh*

Least favorite -

Susie- okay she reminds me of a man but is an okay dancer

Katee - I still just don't love her. She was awesome with Jacob, but otherwise, just not my favorite.

The rest of the girls fade into the middle for me - so far!

Favorite Guys:

Twitch-

I'm sure he won't be the best at everything, but I sure hope he sticks around until the top 10. Dude is awesome, happy, fun, and a great partner. Have I mentioned I have a crush! I want to see him on the tour!

After this, its a tie between William and Thayne for likely to be the best. William is strong, hot, and contemporary (always good at everything) - Thayne reminds me of Benji (winner season 2) and I think he has the partnering ability (and hips) to make anything work.

Dark horse, but amazing - Joshua
He carried Katee in their hip-hop and will literally be the only reason the couple stays around. I just hope he can shine in other styles.
Honorable mentions: Jamie and Mark - both excellent in their own thing. I hope Jamie gets a west coast swing night and Mark for sure did Mia proud with his quirkiness.

Least favorite Dudes:

Gev - i think choreography may have hurt him, but also I just don't think he's that great. Tiny white guy (can you say DOM). - probably only safe because his solo will rock.

Chris - Definitely not a tree, but not really standing out either. Pack your bags- your solo will not keep you going!

Matt & Marquis....who are you and what dances did you do again? either of you could go and I wouldn't mind either!

Best Performances:

Chelsea & Mark - I think Mia did wonders with them!
Jessica & William - I think had the HARDEST dance of the night and were fantastic, mostly!
*special mention to Joshua- He was phenomenal. Also Rayven- You rocked as well! Your partners just didn't keep it up!

Worst Performances:

Matt & Kourtne - I just don't care about you two!
Courtney & Gev - sorry about your choreography - def. not your fault.

Prediction: Susie/Marquis, Courtney/Gev (NOOOO), Matt/Kourtne

Bballers 'Slash' way to the Vball championships!

So, let it be known... I Dani, will never declare myself to be a volleyball player. I enjoy playing (at times), but certainly am not what I would deem as great/excellent/awesome. I'd say Average skills but lots of athleticism! Now my friends Oakley and Yo-Yo are a different story! They are true Vballers!
Over Memorial Weekend- I just happened to be on a volleyball team for the Duck Beach Tourney! Basically, Yo-Yo asked if I would help her friends out for the day and be on their team (I'm sure I was not the 1st person on their list of subs, but whatev). I said yes! I figured- a day at the beach playing vball couldn't be all that bad! 3, maybe 4, matches and we'd be done, right?

Our team turned out to be a team of all Bballers- and only about 1/2 were great at Vball (that'd be Schmidt and Dees). Team atitude was that we would just have fun! No expectations...just play! Apparently that worked for us. Team after team went down for the count! We 'SLASHED' through the rounds and into the main tournament. Even more shocking was that our superstar pals did not make it to the tournament. Mind you- they had a much MUCH more difficult path than we did, and you could see it in their faces that they were a little disappointed with how things were going....
They were however our biggest fans and kept encouraging the bballers to play hard. Thanks to a few special fans - we were also supplied drinks, snacks, stretches and even an occasional rub down (Thanks A-bo).
Team Slash - yes, that was our official name - made it to the championship! We lost the firstgame, won the 2nd, and though we put up a good fight, we just couldn't get past the team that took home the title.
Regardless of our final loss, we still felt like we were awesome. For saying we had a guy who couldn't hit down (though looking at the pictures- he looks a little like hercules)and a girl who has no real volleyball love (though more for beach than regular for sure) - we represented Bballers everywhere!

Lets hear that team cheer one more time---- 'ssssssssslaaaash! :-)

In the very end--a some took it harder than others....

The Only Brawl Started with a Prayer

Its church-ball season! This is one of my happy-times and also one of the most stressful times in my life. For the 4th season in a row, I'm heading up the women's Church-ball league. I'm not sure if I do the best job, or if its just that anyone else would be completely annoyed by my pestering so they keep me in charge for everyone's sanity. I don't mind so much- its the best calling ever. The part I do hate, is that we can never get all of the best pals on the same team. We always have to separate to a point. This year I have taken a couple hits b/c Sleepy is not on our team. I'm pretty sure I goofed on that arrangement, but I wanted her to defect from the other team and just play with us. That would have saved the 'stacking comments' - although I'm seemingly getting them anyhow. Next year, I think there should be a pull and I want people to pick their own teams but nobody gets involved early and its left on my lap anyhow. Separating sucks! I try to do an even job, but I still seem to manage hurting feelings regardless.

As always, church ball is a bit more intense than the talent should allow. Don't get me wrong, we have some of the best players (They aren't usually the problem), but with church ball comes a certain degree of..... delusion. I love it when new players come out to join us, but don't make up that you're a college level player when you probably didn't even play YW-ball. Sorry, but its church ball- don't lie! We play every Thursday, and its rarely a Hack-fest! However, when Saturday church ball rolls around, you better be moving when you get the ball or otherwise, you're going to be slapped (and hard) by anyone standing nearby. People get so deeply involved with church-ball. Everything is personal! Every foul is marked intentional, every team has someone who is too aggressive (and often out of control), and those who don't really know how to play always think that you are fouling them when they are the ones flailing madly. Literally, I had to cover for a team last week when one or two of their players kept tripping our team. I just said- sorry girls, they just aren't bball players, so they are a little awkward on their feet! Don't worry though- they could sing circles around us if they wanted!!!

Speaking of singing-lets move on to playing time. As I said earlier, we have a lot of talent. There are a lot of great players. Most people when playing sports are in agreement- Winning is way better than losing! So, when the game is on the line, don't you want to put your best players in the game and win it? What is it about church-ball that gives girls a feeling of entitlement? My roommate put it best when she laid it out this way: 'If I were to join the stake choir, I certainly wouldn't be selected to do a solo just to make me feel better. So why would you expect to be in a game at cruch time?' Couldn't have said it better myself, but seriously, some people just have no idea that they aren't very good. My team is awesome. The coolest part is that we are realistic. We know we want to win, so we start strong and end strong. Its just a part of the deal!! What is funny, is that our players will often fight to stay out of games so that they can cheer rather than be in during the tough parts. Its quite funny!

A final mention goes out to the Uniforms. Our league spans from ghetto (t-shirts turned inside out with iron on numbers) to fancy (full on uniforms sported by the DC team). Colonial 2 has the best though- we kind of have a thing with making fun t-shirts and giving each other nicknames. One team chose a little bit of a GI Joe route- Green Shirts with Camo letters and Boy nicknames for each girl (ex: Ani = Andy). They are super cute! The other team (the one I'm on) went pretty much the exact opposite. Purple T-shirts, Pink/White letters, and Princess nicknames. However, we did put a twist on the nicknames. My name is Princess Dozer. Can you guess which princess that is? How about Sleeping Beauty (Dozing off???). We have Ding-Dong(Belle), Fishtail (Ariel), Punch-Bug (Lilo- also 626), Reeses(Buttercup), Foxx (Miriam), Whitey (Snow), Tink, etc. Its kind of great! The shirts are awesome. We have crowns, pretty letters, etc. etc. and its great! I love listening to the crowd as we play. They comment every week and it is swell! As a final touch, both teams have the cutest bows for our hair! Its awesome!!!

Never fear _ I will have pictures to go along soon. And maybe a little video clip of the hacking! Come watch a game if you dare!

Happy Ballin'
